Chantel
Mom called last night. Chantel wants me to call Cassandra today and find out who is coming this weekend. I asked, "What happens if they don't have anyone yet?" Mom replied, "Well, I guess Chantel will just go." Talking big; no concern. I suggested Chantel may have to work 4 days on/4 days off for a while until they can find someone that suits her schedule. Mom said, "Chantel's not going to do that. She's like family." So now I'm wondering, Why can't this "family member" (Chantel) call Cassandra herself???

Nice to find your blog--and to see a family struggling with "sandwich genearation" issues together.
My mother moved in with us (two daughters at home, one at college)after I realized that not only did she had Parkinson's, but I was seeing signs of dementia and really didn't think she should live alone any more.
It took all of us--my husband, three daughters, extended family, friends, neighbors and "church folks" to get by. It was our love and devotion to my mom that somehow became a glue.
Good to see a family come together--even if it's something less than joyous that got you there, now you know the strength (and chaos, humor, and banter) in many.
